The next pitfall when it comes to fixing your marketing is getting stuck in the weeds.


Youโ€™re always doing, and never marketing. Stuck in the day to day and not planning. Stuck in the WEEDS.


Working IN and not ON the business.


You are on the Marketing Rollercoaster. You know the one. When you do some marketing and get some new customers and then youโ€™re too busy looking after those customers so you donโ€™t do any marketing and then the customers dry up so you do some marketing again.


Up and down on the โ€˜coasterโ€™. Famine to feast and back to famine again. Itโ€™s very difficult to hand all your marketing off to an employee. You need to at least own and be responsible for making sure the right things are happening.


You can get help to do it, but you have to be the one overseeing. If you get stuck in the weeds, recognise that the marketing system isn't going to work. And if the marketing system doesnโ€™t work, those plans and goals that you had are sailing away over the horizon. You have to get out of the weeds.
